Current Projects
- Service Life Prediction Methodologies and Metrologies for Building Joint Sealants
Objectives: Develop and implement a reliability-based service life prediction methodology for sealants to relate field and laboratory exposure results. Implementation will include:
- Development and fabrication of a prototype constant-strain testing device
- Development and fabrication of a computer controlled and monitored exposure chamber
- Development of an efficient experimental design to relate field and laboratory exposure results
- Perform preliminary field and laboratory experiments using pre-competitive sealants developed in cooperation with industry
- Establishment of a database for the storage, retrieval, and analysis of results
